Unexpected visit
Being located so close to nature, the Nynäshamn refinery receives unexpected visits every now and then. A while ago, a rabbit popped up to check out whether it was possible to create a home next to the laboratory.
Nynas’ refinery in Nynäshamn is located in beautiful surroundings, nestling alongside small-town buildings. The picturesque harbour town was established as a popular holiday resort in the early 1900s, and also hosted the sailing events when Stockholm organised the Olympic Games in 1912.
Being located so close to nature, staff at the refinery receive unexpected visits every now and then. A while ago, for example, a rabbit popped up to check out whether it was possible to create a home in the courtyard next to the laboratory.
The small, entrepreneurial rabbit, known as Fluffy, has become popular among staff and can almost be regarded as the laboratory’s new mascot. Or maybe the biological lawn mower robot, given the healthy appetite of the little settler.
There are also times when other four-footed guests pay a visit, anything from cats to deer. Not to mention all the flying visitors. If you’re lucky, you might see a sea eagle hovering above the plant, with its powerful, bright yellow beak and a wingspan of up to 2.4 metres.
