Nynas naphthenic oils are a reliable choice for producers of silicone sealants, acting as a viscosity modifier and reducing costs by partially replacing the silicon fluids in the formulation. Nynas’ NYFLEX® range of hydrocarbon fluids also meets the key requirements of low viscosity, very good color stability and low VOC level.
Nynas Naphthenics - Silicone sealants
- The high solvent power of naphthenic oils allows for perfect compatibility with polymers used in silicone sealants as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)
- The hydrotreatment technology utilised to refine our naphthenic oil ensures that the products are odourless and have a low colour.
- The use of Nynas naphthenic oils in silicone sealants prevents bacteria growth.
- Naphthenic oil can be introduced into silicone sealants at a high concentration, and can maintain the compatibility of the sealant formulation at very low temperatures.
Nynas naphthenic oils are a reliable choice for producers of silicone sealants, acting as a viscosity modifier and reducing costs by replacing the silicon fluids in the formulation. Nynas’ NYFLEX® range of naphthenic oils also meets the key requirements of low viscosity, good compatibility, colour stability, and excellent low temperature performance.
The high solvency of Nynas naphthenic oils enables formulators to optimise the plasticiser concentration while maintaining compatibility, which results in a clear and transparent seal, even at very low temperatures. Additionally, the molecular structure of naphthenic oils has the built-in function of inhibiting bacteria and mould formation in sealants used in a damp environment.
The hydrotreatment technology employed by Nynas ensures that the product is odourless and has a low colour. Nynas oils are available in a wide range of viscosities, allowing formulators to design a silicone fluid which meets their exact requirements and all industry standards.
