Founded in 1928 as a traditional oil company, Nynas made a strategic shift in the 1980s by divesting its gasoline stations and fuels business, focusing instead on naphthenic specialty products and bitumen. What We Do
Nynas is a leading European producer of bitumen and naphthenic specialty products. Our solutions are essential to modern life – lubricating, cooling, insulating, binding and protecting the products and infrastructure society depends on.
Our operations focus on five main segments:
Transformer oils – insulating and cooling liquids that ensure reliable, efficient power transmission and longer transformer life.
Process oils – key ingredients in industrial formulations such as adhesives, plastics, and rubber, enhancing flexibility, performance, and sustainability.
Tyre and rubber oils – performance oils that improve fuel efficiency, reduce rolling resistance, and lower CO₂ emissions.
Base oils – high-quality base oils for metalworking, hydraulic systems, and greases, designed for durability and lower environmental impact.
Bitumen – advanced binders for roads, bridges, runways, and roofs that deliver longer life, reduced carbon footprint, and full recyclability.
