Nynas naphthenic oils are widely used as a plasticiser in a variety of adhesive applications.
NYNAS NAPHTHENICS - ADHESIVES
- Nynas plasticisers demonstrate an excellent compatibility with a wide range of polymers and resins.
- Their unique properties enable the formulation of stronger adhesives, with higher cohesion, and improved peel strength.
- A unified range of products which adhere to the same specifications are available worldwide and are tailored to comply with the most stringent legislation.
Their usage may be categorised into adhesive technologies which are based on two different types of base polymer: TPE (SBC and m-PO) and rubber (SBR and NR).
For adhesives based on Styrene Block Copolymer (SBC) and metallocene (m-PO), highly refined naphthenic oils from the NYFLEX® range are proven to have very good compatibility, resulting in a significant enhancement of adhesion properties, such as peel strength and cohesion. This formulation technology can be found in adhesives for non-woven, hotmelt, and pressure sensitive applications.
For natural (NR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) based adhesive technologies, the naphthenic plasticisers can contribute to improved open time, and enhance the tackiness of the adhesive. The NYTEX® range optimises the solvent power and ensures good compatibility. This formulation technology can be found in flooring adhesives and tapes.
